Who Was Panduraju?

Panduraju, also known as King Pandu, was the son of Vichitravirya through sage Vyasa. He was the younger brother of Dhritarashtra.

Due to Dhritarashtra’s blindness, Pandu became the king of Hastinapura, ruling with wisdom, strength, and fairness.

Panduraju’s Rule and Glory

Panduraju was a brave warrior and successful ruler. He expanded his kingdom through Digvijaya (conquest of all directions) and established peace and prosperity.

His leadership made Hastinapura powerful and respected across Bharatavarsha.

Panduraju’s life took a tragic turn when he accidentally killed a sage named Kindama, who was in the form of a deer.

As he died, the sage cursed Pandu:

“If you ever approach your wives with desire, you will die instantly.”
